The First thing you need to decide is what type of bar you are going to have. It may be more cost effective to limit the type of drinks you serve at the bar to a few of the wedding parties favorite. You could definitely have a great bar that focuses on the bride and grooms favorite mixed drinks with the addition of perhaps the couples favorite beer, white wine, and red wine.
A great way to estimate the amount of alcohol needed would be to assume that each guess will consume two beers and one third a bottle of wine. This will most likely give you the perfect amount of alcohol at the wedding. If you take into consideration that some people will not drink at all, some people will have one drink, and others will leave the party after several drinks you will see that a nice average will probably serve your party just fine.
If you are catering to a more specific crowd, then take into consideration what they like to drink, how much they drink on average, and the cost of stocking a bar with it. Remember this is a celebration! It is important for the bar not to run out, but it is more important to celebrate the leap into married life of two close friends who love each other! What’s 1 more click?
